Stick Brawl is a cartoon stickman fighting game on small floating stages. Two to four bold stick fighters in team colours jump between platforms, trade punches and kicks and try to win three rounds first. Every hit takes some health, and the lower your health gets the farther the next blow sends you flying. Big hits turn a fighter into a floppy ragdoll that tumbles across the arena, so a round ends either when a fighter runs out of health or when they are knocked off the stage and out of the arena. There is no blood at all: hits are bright sparks, stars and a good screen shake, and the deciding blow of every round plays out in slow motion.

Crates on little parachutes keep dropping from the sky. Grab a sword for quick slashes, a bat that sends rivals flying, a long spear, a blaster with a few shots, rocket gloves that dash you forward with every punch or a heavy hammer for the biggest knockback of all. Every weapon wears out after a number of swings, and you can throw it at someone when you are done. Power-ups add a heart of health, a shield bubble that eats three hits, a burst of speed or a few seconds of extra power. The eight arenas all play differently: city rooftops with a deadly gap, a jungle temple, a factory with conveyor belts and moving platforms, islands above bubbling lava, a slippery ice peak, the roof of a speeding train with a crosswind, a castle with rising lifts and a low-gravity space station.

Play against one to three computer fighters on easy, normal or hard. The bots walk and jump between platforms, pick up weapons, block, dodge bullets and fight their way back when they are knocked off the edge. Two players can share one keyboard or one touch screen, with bots to fill the arena if you like. Online, quick match puts you in a room of up to four, the host can start after ten seconds and bots take the empty places, or you can open a private room and share its four-letter code. Survival mode throws wave after wave of bots at you with three lives for a high score. Match wins unlock new looks for your fighter, from a headband and a viking helmet to a crown, a halo and a robot head, and your best survival score and online wins go on the leaderboards.

How to play

  1. Move with A and D (or the arrow keys) and jump with W. Press jump again in the air for a double jump, and press down on a thin platform to drop through it.
  2. Press F to attack: tap it for a punch combo, attack while running for a kick, hold up for an uppercut and hold down in the air for a stomp.
  3. Hold G to block blows from the front. Blocking wears down your guard, so don't hold it forever.
  4. Walk over a weapon to pick it up, then attack to use it. Block and attack together to throw it at a rival.
  5. Knock everyone else out of the arena or empty their health bar to win the round. The first fighter to win three rounds wins the match.

FAQ

How do you win a round in Stick Brawl?

Be the last fighter standing. A fighter is out when their health runs out or when they are knocked off the stage and leave the arena. The lower someone's health, the farther your hits throw them, so finishing blows near the edge are the quickest way to win. The first to win three rounds takes the match.

Can I play Stick Brawl with friends?

Yes. Choose 2 Players to fight a friend on the same keyboard or touch screen, with up to two bots added if you want a bigger brawl. Choose Online for quick matches with up to four real players, or create a private room and share its four-letter code with your friends.

What weapons and power-ups are there?

Six weapons drop from the sky: a sword, a baseball bat, a spear, a blaster with five shots, rocket gloves and a heavy hammer. Four power-ups help too: a heart heals you, a shield bubble blocks three hits, speed boots make you faster and the power star makes your hits stronger for a few seconds.
