Tile Temple is a relaxing mahjong solitaire game in your browser. Each board is a temple of stacked tiles: find two matching tiles that are free and tap them to lift them away. A tile is free when nothing lies on top of it and its left or right side is open, so the puzzle is in choosing which pairs to take first. Clear every tile to finish the board.

There are 40 layouts to work through, from a small flower of 24 tiles to the classic turtle of 144, with pyramids, bridges, fortresses, a dragon and more in between. Every deal is built so it can be solved, and the deals are the same for every player. Finish a board quickly for three stars, match pairs in fast succession for combo points, and come back each day for the daily challenge, a fresh board with its own leaderboard of the fastest times.

Stuck? A hint lights up a free pair, a shuffle mixes the tiles still on the board while keeping it solvable, and undo takes back any move. Choose between four themes (jade, night, sakura and sand), light up the free tiles if you like, and play on a phone held either way: tall screens turn the board for bigger tiles. Your progress is saved after every move, and a free TapNPlay account keeps it on all your devices.

How to play

Tap a free tile, then tap a matching free tile to remove the pair. A tile is free when nothing lies on it and its left or right side is open.
Tiles with the same picture match. Any flower matches any flower and any season matches any season.
Clear every tile to finish the board. Match quickly for combos and finish fast for three stars.
When no pair is left, shuffle the remaining tiles or undo a few moves. Hints are free three times per board, then once every 30 seconds.

FAQ

Can every board be solved?

Yes. Each deal is built backwards from an empty board, pair by pair, so there is always a way to clear it. A shuffle keeps the remaining tiles solvable too, although careless moves can still lead to a dead end, which is what undo is for.

How are stars and score counted?

Stars depend on your time for the board: the faster you clear it, the more stars. Each pair is worth 10 points, multiplied by your combo when you match again within four seconds, and a time bonus is added at the end.

What is the daily challenge?

Every day at 00:00 UTC a new board is dealt, the same for every player. Clear it as fast as you can to climb that day's leaderboard; with a free TapNPlay account your best time is saved.
