Word Hunt is a classic word search with a soft paper look. Every puzzle hides a list of words from one theme in a grid of letters: animals, fruits, space, the ocean, the kitchen, music, sports and 23 more. Drag across the letters to mark a word, and a bright highlighter stroke circles it while the word is crossed off the list. Find them all to solve the puzzle and earn up to three stars for your time.

Each theme has four stages that grow with you. The 8x8 grids hide words only across and down, 10x10 adds diagonals, 12x12 uses every direction including backwards, and the expert 15x15 grids hide fourteen words in all eight directions. Solve a stage to open the next one and the next theme. Stuck? A hint makes the first letter of a word pulse for a moment, for a small time penalty.

Besides the themes there is a new daily puzzle every day with its own leaderboard for the fastest time, an endless mode with random themes at the size you like, and a time attack where every word you find buys a few more seconds. The words come in 12 languages, written for each language rather than translated, with their own letters such as Ñ, Ä, Ç, Ğ, Ł and Ё, kana for Japanese and Hangul syllables for Korean. Your progress is saved after every word, and with a free TapNPlay account your solved puzzles and daily times go on the leaderboards and follow you to other devices.

How to play

  1. Pick a theme and a grid size, or start the daily puzzle, endless mode or time attack from the menu.
  2. Look for the words in the list under the grid (beside it on wide screens). They can run across, down, diagonally and, in the bigger grids, backwards.
  3. Press on the first letter of a word and drag to the last one. The selection snaps to straight lines; let go to check it. You can also tap the first letter and then the last.
  4. Find every word to solve the puzzle. The faster you are, the more stars you earn; a hint shows the first letter of a word but adds 10 seconds.

FAQ

How are the stars counted?

Each grid size has a par time per word. Solve the puzzle within the par time for three stars, within twice the par time for two, and any slower solve still earns one star. Every hint adds 10 seconds to your time.

Can I play the words in another language?

Yes. The words follow the game's language by default, but in Settings you can choose any of the 12 word languages separately, for example to practise Spanish words with an English menu.

How does the daily puzzle work?

Everyone playing in the same language gets the same 12x12 puzzle for the day, which changes at midnight UTC. Your first solve of the day is timed and goes on the daily leaderboard.
